First Art Show in 2 Years
Recently I had the opportunity and pleasure to participate in Conway Art Walk this past Friday. Conway Art Walk is held every first Friday of the month downtown Conway, AR. There is live music, interactive experiences, food trucks, and pop up galleries.
As an artist you have the option to have premium booth with 15x15 space $35, standard booth $25 , and indoor booth which is located inside The Studio downtown for $45. Now, with the heat I really wanted the indoor booth with the air conditioning but it was already full. And the next show that had that option available wasn’t until October. That wouldn’t work because we will be moving further away from Conway and I might not be able to participate. So, I went with the premium booth and purchased a canopy for shade in case the sun is out, plus we can use it at home if needed.
To prepare for the art show I had to make sure I created a checklist of the things I needed to bring. And of course I forgot something. I forgot the weights for the canopy. I was not expecting it to be as windy as it was but I was grateful that it was windy and cloudy and the canopy didn’t fly off. One thing is for sure, I will get a wagon or some type of cart to make ONE trip instead of two next time I do an art show.
The entire experience was great. It was organized and the people really support the artists and other performers. There were volunteers offering water and snacks to vendors and exhibiting artist which is next level for me. Cause I definitely asked if it was free before I took the bottle of water.
artist. What took me by surprise is someone wanting to purchase a sketch out of my sketchbook that I had on display. Those drawings are there to simply show my range in what I can do. I had no ties to the drawings but nonetheless it was a surprise when a couple of individuals wanted to purchase a sketch.
It was great being back after two years. It’s the same feeling I got when I did my very first art show with Pancakes and Booze and I sold a painting, pure joy and excitement of someone else seeing your talent and want your art in their home or office. Being able to show my work at Conway Art Walk was exciting. I am looking forward to the next local art show.
